Wow! I couldn't believe it! The buffets, one Japanese, a lot of sushi, but delightful salads, a Chinese, and a dessert buffet were immaculate and have special "sneeze guards" which makes it difficult for people to touch everything. We arrived right when they opened (my request to cut down on germs). So I'll go back in a couple of weeks or so if I'm in a hurry and am tired of the usual meat and potatoes.A friend of mine is a regular at the buffet restaurant, so when she suggested meeting for lunch, I reluctantly accepted because I HATE BUFFET restaurants! Haven't been to one in many years b/c my previous experiences were negative. The place is clean, attracts a good crowd and you shouldn't leave hungry. Maybe this is a good place for a quick weekday lunch or a before the theater dinner but saying it is the best Asian Buffet in Fort Myers, Florida, is probably true but that doesn't say much. Do not under any circumstances think the cheese cake might be good. Desserts are the usual buffet fare from tapioca and chocolate pudding to some Jell-O, fresh fruit, little cakes, or even hand dip your own ice cream. Otherwise spoon yourself some fried rice or noodles. If you want steamed white rice you won't find it on the steam table but if you ask they will bring you a healthy portion from the kitchen. The buffet does feature a made to order grill where the meister will chop your veggies and meat as you wait. I thought the stuffed delicacies, whatever they tried to be, were not worth the trial. The spring rolls there look and taste like hollow cardboard cigarettes.
But avoid the steam table for the most part. So you can's blame the store for changing the game. When the place opened they were there for the taking and everyone made pigs of themselves which ruined it for us. Crab Legs are now offered for an extra charge. A Chinese spare rib or two with a couple of packets of hot mustard was nothing to complain about either. The peel and eat shrimp were nicely chilled, fresh, and certainly if you left after finishing those you wouldn't feel cheated. For me soup was the best part of my meal. If you opt for the Won Ton sometimes those ahead of you have taken them all and you have to ask the kitchen to bring more for the broth. If you figure 2 cups of the Miso Soup, the Hot & Sour or the Egg Drop soup would cost you about $10 then you would be ahead of the game already. I'll tell you what I think is worth the trip for the $13 dinner. I'd bet they are delivered frozen but can't prove it. I can't believe they are made in house, however. I am not a sushi aficionado and seldom get past a California Roll but judging by those loading up from the 12 foot or so sushi bar, those pretty little things must be ok. Based on my last experience with the bill, I will likely not return. The place is "okay" for what it is: an inexpensive buffet with sushi option. I spoke with the manager who put the blame on the waiter who "rung it up wrong". I immediately told the waitress the error and she returned with a new, now itemized bill with the correct amount. As soon as the bill came I realized it wasn't itemized and was $7 more than it should be. The sign posted in the front states children 3-5 are $3.99. My daughter is now 3.5 and is still petite and very much looks her age.
Being in my last trimester of pregnancy, I didn't have the energy to return. I realized the error in the car as I was leaving. So the third time I went, my daughter who had just turned three (and looks 2) was charged as an adult. That time the bill seemed a bit expensive, but I just figured it was because there was more of us and we both had tea. The second time, my husband met me for lunch and he wasn't a fan. The service was great, food seemed fresh and it was priced reasonably. The first time I went, I was pleasantly surprised. While pregnant with my third child I had a craving for Chinese and found this place.
